Uzbekistan has strengthened its growing polymer and packaging sector with the inauguration of a new production facility operated by Kmita Polymers at the Chirchik Chemical Industrial Technopark. The project reflects the country’s continued focus on industrial modernization, import substitution, and export-oriented manufacturing.

The enterprise was established in partnership with Russian polymer manufacturer Polymers and specializes in the production of polyethylene films and advanced packaging materials. These products serve a wide range of industries, including food processing, construction, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, and household appliances.

The manufacturing complex spans approximately 6,670 square meters and is equipped with modern Italian production technology. The facility produces various polymer films and shrink packaging solutions designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality packaging materials in domestic and international markets.

The project is being implemented under a two-stage expansion program with a total investment of USD 15.2 million. The first phase has already attracted investments worth USD 7.4 million, enabling the launch of commercial production and the creation of 50 new jobs.

According to project officials, the facility will help replace imported packaging materials and generate import-substituting products valued at approximately USD 9.5 million annually. Additional expansion phases are expected to further increase production capacity and employment opportunities.

During 2025, Kmita Polymers produced goods valued at 115 billion soums and exported polymer products worth approximately USD 6 million to Central Asian markets. The company currently supplies packaging materials used by several regional and international brands across food, beverage, and consumer product sectors.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the facility and emphasized the importance of modern packaging industries in supporting economic growth. Rising production volumes across manufacturing sectors continue to drive demand for innovative packaging solutions, creating new opportunities for polymer processors and material suppliers.

Industry observers note that investments in polymer film production and packaging technologies are becoming increasingly important as countries seek to strengthen local manufacturing capabilities, reduce import dependence, and expand exports.

The development of enterprises such as Kmita Polymers is expected to support not only the packaging industry but also the broader growth of food production, pharmaceuticals, construction, agriculture, and consumer goods manufacturing throughout the region.
